HOW BUYING WORKS

Three steps, and two
of them are ours

You do the first one. After that the work is on our side of the table until there is something worth your time. Point at a step.

STEP 01
WHAT HAPPENS HERE
Three answers at the door, and nothing about your funding
Industry, region, revenue, deal size and the stake you want
All of it yours to edit, none of it visible to a seller
IN SHORT

What kind of buyer you are, your name and an address. What you buy is described in your workspace, on one bar you can change the day your mandate changes.

YOURS TO DO
YOUR WORKSPACE

Four segments, all holding
something at once

A seller has one deal and wants to know how far along it is, so that side is a timeline. You have several at once and want to know where each one stands, so this side is a pipeline.

Anonymous profiles our team has matched to your criteria. A region, an industry, two bands of figures and a reference number.

Yours to keep and annotate. If a seller pulls the business, it stays here with a label rather than quietly becoming a dead link.

You have raised your hand. Five steps, each of them a person doing something, and you can see which one it is sitting at.

A DEAL DRIFTS RIGHTWARD AS YOU ACT ON IT
THE FIRST THING YOU SEE

What reaches
you first

Every business we represent arrives like this to begin with. It is enough to tell you whether it is worth your time, and not enough to work out whose business it is.

The name, the financial statements and the customer detail unlock after you sign an NDA and the owner approves you by name. That order is not negotiable, and it is the reason owners are willing to be on this site at all.

THE CONCIERGE PART

What happens after
you raise your hand

Matching, qualification and the owner’s approval are done by people. Every one of those steps has a state on screen, so the work is visible while it is happening rather than after.

ONCE THE OWNER APPROVES YOU

Six milestones from the signed NDA to diligence. They are fixed by the process, so only the dates vary, and the dates are filled in by us as they happen.

The first of those steps is where we ask about funding, what you have bought before, and what you would want the owner to do after closing. It is asked once, per buyer rather than per deal, and it is asked then rather than at registration because it is the answer an owner needs before their name is given to anybody.

FIT

Who these businesses
tend to suit

Owner operated companies across Canada, most of them between $2M and $30M in revenue. That shape suits some buyers more than others.

Private equity

Funds looking for a platform in a fragmented trade, or an add-on for one they already hold.

Strategic acquirers

Operating companies buying capacity, a capability or a region they would otherwise have to build.

Search funds and independent sponsors

An operator with committed capital behind them, looking for one business to run.

Family offices and individuals

Buyers who intend to hold rather than to exit, which is often what an owner selling their life’s work wants to hear.

DELIBERATELY

Two things this
deliberately does not do

Both are decisions rather than gaps, and both are easier to hear now than to discover in a month.

There is no list of everything

Nothing carries a business name until an NDA is signed and the owner has approved you individually. Our sellers are owner operators who in most cases have not told their staff or their customers. Browse shows you what our team has matched to you, so an empty Browse is the model working rather than a fault.

There is no chat box

Email and the phone carry the conversation. A message tab would hand our team an inbox they can never stop watching, and a buyer waiting on a reply in it would have no idea whether anyone was there. You get a named person instead.

Three answers, and
nothing about money
